Sophisticated Soirée at the Winnipeg Art Gallery
I adore a couple that just goes for it. Jessica and Andrei absolutely nailed their vision of a simple yet sophisticated, modern yet warm September soirée. There is so much inspiration oozing from this wedding with my favourite detail being Jessica's stunning, elegant and unique silk backless gown from White Toronto. I'm talking California inspired greenery flawlessly executed by Stone House Creative, a laser cut seating chart designed by interior designer Jess herself and printed with Jukebox Print, handmade concrete planter centrepieces, a DIY golden geometric ceremony altar, bridal party style on style, a first look that will have you swooning and the list goes on and on. All of this and more beautifully captured by Kamp Photography.
More from Jessica.. We wanted the décor to be minimalistic in order to complement the modern architecture of the Winnipeg Art Gallery. This included milk glass vases and concrete planter centrepieces, white marble table numbers, a wood laser cut seating chart, white string lights and our engagement photographs scattered about. My dad and I also built a custom, welded geometric altar for our rooftop ceremony and A&J marquee letters for the reception.
Our flowers for the day were inspired by our desert engagement in Joshua Tree National Park, just outside of Palm Springs, California. The bouquets and centrepieces were mostly greenery made up of air plants, succulents, monstera leaves and protea. Lauren from Stone House Creative also designed a breathtakingly beautiful floral headpiece, composed predominantly of large white-headed roses, which I wore for most of the day.
I wanted the bridal party attire to be simple. I requested that the women be in white, cream or beige and the men in black. I wanted my girls to each choose a dress or jumpsuit that they actually liked and felt comfortable in. My sister, Sara pictured above actually knitted her entire dress! The guys wore black tuxes with floral ties. Andrei, also in a black tux, had a matching floral bow tie as well.
As the most important part of the day, we wanted the ceremony to be as personalized as possible. We asked our sisters to officiate, we wrote our own vows and had our cellists curate an incredible playlist, which included The XX, Lana Del Ray and Bach’s Suite No. 1.
Andrei’s good friend brought his Porsche to our reception and allowed us to take some amazing shots just outside of the WAG- one of our favourite moments of the day!
