SIMPLE ORGANIC WEDDING
Bride Ashley had the loveliest vision for her wedding hoping for a simple, personal, romantic day that was casual, fun and that their guests would enjoy. Her plans certainly came together beautifully with help from family friends on the florals, stationery and cake with flawless captures from Brittany Mahood Photography.
More from Ashley.. For the wedding, we knew what we liked and what we didn’t like, and we wanted it to be a casual, easygoing evening. Kyle and I are both procrastinators and almost the entire wedding was planned in the last 2 months leading up to the big day. We were on a tight budget so all of the décor was DIY, with the help of our family and friends. Our favourite details were the the beautiful bouquets (in fact, when I saw them I burst into tears!), the watercolour stationery and the cake with real flowers.
Kyle and I wanted our ceremony to be about us, not a cookie cutter ceremony. My uncle Ray Harms got ordained for the day and married us. He wrote the most beautiful address that was sentimental, funny, and personal. Kyle and I wrote our own vows, which added another personal touch to our short ceremony.
Brittany Mahood is an absolute pleasure to work with. She is professional yet personable, and her photos are like no other. Every girl dreams of looking her best on her wedding day. My hair stylist Chelsea Marinelli and make up artist Angie Zachary made that dream come true for me. I felt so beautiful. They are incredible.
Planning our wedding was not overly difficult, however when we added a baby into the mix it got a little more complicated. If you're planning a wedding with a baby on the way or a young family, don't procrastinate. Do as much as you can before the baby comes, because life gets real hectic with a newborn. Try to stay organized, I had one million to-do lists going to make sure I didn’t forget anything. Planning a wedding with a newborn would not have been possible without the help of our families. You need a great support system to have a baby and plan a wedding at the same time. Most of all, remember it’s just one day. It’s not going to be absolutely perfect (especially if your babies are with you) and you just need to go with the flow and appreciate every minute of it.
