Planning versus Design with Feast and Festivities

Feast & Festivities is a Winnipeg wedding planning and design studio and owner Emily is sharing her expertise on what wedding planners offer vs what wedding designers offer. Many couples assume all wedding planners are skilled in handing wedding design as well when there is a distinct difference between the two services. While a planner assists with all logistical management, development of wedding day timelines, handling vendor sourcing and referrals, phone calls and emails to all contracted vendors, and handling bookings, negotiations and contracts, wedding designers are focused on creating visually stunning displays transforming your space, helping you narrow down your wedding style and assisting you in the realization of what is really important aesthetically for your wedding and for you and your partner.

How do you navigate providing both wedding planning and design services for your clients? Design is an area we flourish in, so you'll find it included in most of our planning services. Our design process begins with an in-depth look into discovering our couple's style, and I create custom theme mood boards to help visualize details. Once a direction has been decided, I thoughtfully pull together a team of vendors who are a perfect fit to execute the vision and budget, and provide ongoing creative direction to ensure flow and consistency between details. Of course, there is the nitty gritty of budgeting, contracts, timelines and checklists done along the way, too. When the big day arrives, we are up at the crack of dawn coordinating set-up, styling details, directing the day's events, and acting as personal assistants. Day-of styling and coordination each requires so much attention that we often come prepared with an assistant of our own!

What are some of the advantages of hiring one company to tackle it all? One professional to know the ins and outs of all your likes, dislikes and wishes. A well-balanced budget is important, and you won't spend more than necessary on decor. Our job is to not only plan for your best day ever, but design an incredible day guests are proud to be a part of.
